Invasion of the Bee Girls

Invasion of the Bee Girls

Yep, we actually own this movie. We watched it for the first time the other night and it’s pretty much everything I hoped it would be - cheese and hilarity galore! I was disappointed to discover that none of the women ever appear in any of the awesome outfits pictured in the poster. I was also amused by the keywords for it at IMDB:

Lesbianism, Beautiful Woman, Female Nudity, Lesbian Scene, Babe Scientist, Bee, Dying During Sex, Lesbian, Nude Woman Murdered, Nudity, Transformation

If you’re looking for hot lesbian action, this movie will be a disappointment. However, you WILL see a lot of boobies.

I love cheesy B movies!

In other news, my new knee pads arrived today, thank goodness! My knees are desperate for extra protection. I hesitated briefly to spend another chunk of cash on expensive gear, but you know what? My knees are worth it. It was either that or quit derby, and I’m not ready to do that anytime soon.

These are my new skates, aren’t they lovely?

I would’ve posted sooner but I’ve been sick. Just a cruddy cold so I pretty much just want to sleep a lot but otherwise I’m pretty functional.

But yeah, these new skates have made skating much more enjoyable. I can already feel an immediate improvement in my speed and agility. The wheels are a bit harder than I would have liked, but they should be perfect for the surface we’ll be skating on in Tulsa. My next purchase will be some grippy wheels. I’m already shopping around. I have a birthday in July, so by then I should have the perfect set all picked out:)

As you can see, I’ve redesigned the site. I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. I also added a new page to the site. You’ll notice a link (at the top) to the Cameras page. Here you will find a gallery of all the cameras in my fledgling collection. I still need to fill in more information on each camera, and I’ll also include links to other related sites. But I really hope to see my little collection grow and it’s fun to share:) You might also notice that there’s a new camera on that page, the Argus C2. I acquired that one very recently and it has a roll of film in it right now. As soon as I finish shooting with it I’ll post some photos here.

Another shot from the Leica, this one with the Macro lens. I wish I had a macro lens for my Olympus! Sorry for the lack of posts. It’s been too cold to go outside and shoot! I have been shooting some, but not enough to finish a roll. That’s the problem with film:) Mostly, though, I’ve just been preoccupied.

Updates will be sporadic between now and the New Year. This time of year always throws a wrench into my already hectic schedule, so I haven’t been shooting much. I’ll have a Christmas shot for you, though, so check back soon:)

I just discovered that this photo was featured as Post of the Day at photoblogs.org over the weekend! Hurray and thank YOU to whoever nominated my photo! I’m honored to see my image appear with those whose work inspires me.

My 15 minutes of fame has arrived. It was fun while it lasted:) But I certainly feel more comfortable behind the camera, thank you very much.

Well, I’m doing newspaper interviews now thanks to my famous prize-winning photograph. I will be the featured “emerging artist” in the Sunday Tribune. How about that?

Good news: I’ll be moving to a new server soon. The site has been awfully slow lately and it’s time for a new host. I’m still narrowing my search at this point. Choosing a web host is scary. There’s too damn many of them. More good news: I have a new toy! My Mom presented me with an early birthday present: A Mamiya MSX 1000 she found at a yard sale. It needs a battery cover and a lens cap, though. I ordered the parts but they’re apparently back-ordered and it may be a while before I get to play with this new toy, but I’m looking forward to it. It’s my first real SLR, and it came with a small telephoto lens, too, which is also a first. I can’t wait to play with it! Stay tuned. I’ll keep you posted on both of these developments and they unfold.

I’m waiting on some film to be developed. There won’t be too much to share from my trip to KS, mostly family shapshots and the like. I took a bunch of family portraits with the Holga and I hope they turn out well. I also experimented with some multiple exposures with the Holga, and I’m especially curious to see how those turn out.

The highlight of my trip to St. Charles was my encounter with a gentleman who also admired vintage cameras. Oddly, he wasn’t a collector or even a photographer, but in the trunk of his car he had a beautiful Zeiss Ikon rangefinder with a fold-out lens. He was thinking about selling it on ebay, but after I showed him some of the basic operations, he was thinking of keeping it after all. “Besides,” he said, “I probably wouldn’t get more than a hundred bucks for it. A hundred bucks isn’t much of anything.” Sorry, mister. I totally cannot relate. That’s when I wished I was the sort of person who was cunning enough to convince him that his camera was junk and probably doesn’t even work anyway, so why not let me take of your hands for 10 bucks? God it was a cool camera. I hope he puts it to use.

One from the archives. I haven’t been able to shoot much of anything lately. I have one roll of film for my Holga that I’m saving for this weekend’s 120 challenge. I had to mail order a bunch of film, since they don’t stock much 120 at the local camera shop. It should be here next week. Meanwhile, I hope I can get some decent shots for the challenge this weekend. Wish me luck:)

Sorry for the infrequent posts this week. I’ve been scrambling to complete my final project for a Web App Development class. I’ve been dreaming in PHP all week, but as of last night it’s over. Now, if I can just get out and take some pictures . . .
