Happy New Year!

December 31st, 2007

Yes, I’m back! My life has been shifting in small but significant ways lately and while it’s all for the good, this blog has been less of a priority. But I don’t intend to abandon this venture, and if I were the sort to make New Year’s resolutions then I suppose I would resolve to post more often this year. But I don’t need an arbitrary calendar date to dictate my priorities and there are always a number of ongoing goals that require my attention. Such is life!

I do lament the lack of photographs lately, and that is largely due to my recent workplace changes, specifically the fact that I am no longer able to walk to work every day. I miss my daily walk dearly, and I really hadn’t appreciated how much I relied on that routine for photographic inspiration and opportunities. I hope to start biking to work this spring, so maybe that will be a good compromise. Really, though, there’s nothing like a nice stroll when it comes to observing the tiny but remarkable details of the world around us.

Due to this change, I am considering reviving my digital camera. It’s simply more convenient and what I’ve really been neglecting since my switch to film is family snapshots. I need to lighten up and shoot more freely, and digital is certainly the easiest way to do just that.

Family life has been better than ever and for that I am incredibly grateful. Rio has been doing exceptionally well at school this year and has just been accepted into the Gifted Learning Program! I’m wicked proud of him:)

As for roller derby, I never did get to bout during the last season due to my persistent hematoma. But I’ve been training and skating consistently and I intend to be ready to kick ass in the upcoming season. Practices start up on January 16th and I can’t wait!

I just visited my doctor, again, about that stupid hematoma and now she’s calling it a lipoma - a fatty tumor which is totally benign and in my case, unusually large. I’ll be seeing a surgeon in a couple of weeks to have it excised and I will be thrilled to be rid of the cursed thing once and for all.

So that’s the latest in a nutshell. I’m not big on holidays, but I do wish my readers all the best:) I have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming months and I hope you are as blessed as I am. I am a very lucky girl.
