December 20th, 2006Steve surprised me with prints from a roll of film he dropped off for me weeks ago, and then we both forgot about it. So I now have shots from October, back when the OM2 was brand new and I was testing my lenses. It’s almost as good found money! This photo and the title are an expression of my current strife.

December 6th, 2006I have nearly a full roll of photos from the snowstorm. I shot them with my 65-200mm zoom lens, and I’m really disappointed in that lens. These were 200 ISO and wicked grainy. Thankfully, I was able to salvage a few with PS. I’m going to put up a set on Flickr with all of those shots, and as soon as I get a chance to upload them I’ll post the link here.
Before the blizzard
December 4th, 2006It’s been 4 days since the snowstorm and even short drives are still treacherous. Likewise my daily walk to work, since few of the sidewalks are cleared and I am forced to share the icy streets with the cars. I’m a native Yankee, and the finest winter I ever spent was at 7800 feet in The Rockies, so I am no stranger to snow in large quantities. But I have learned my lesson - copious snowfall is nothing to be desired here in Missouri because the infrastructure is poorly equipped to handle it. While I find it quite delightful to be holed up in my cozy, comfy house while the weather outside is frightful, traveling in this stuff is a nightmare if the roads aren’t properly plowed. So as you may imagine, it may be a couple of days before I finish this roll of film I’m working on, but it’s coming. Also, I won’t have anything from the Leica until I get a battery for it. No big deal, but all errands have been postponed until we get a good thaw.
My nephew
December 1st, 2006We’ve been safely snuggled in here in our little house amidst the snowdrifts. I’m very thankful that we don’t have to drive anywhere for a while. I went for a walk around town early this morning and it was pretty deserted. I had to walk in the street because the sidewalks were buried, which wasn’t a problem because there few cars on the road. I took a lot of pictures because I thought I should make a record of the Blizzard of ‘06. I’ll try to finish up the roll this weekend so I can get them developed soon. Wherever you are, be warm:)
