November 29th, 2006Arch Hill Cemetery
November 28th, 2006While in Tilton we hiked up to the Arch and visited this cemetery. It’s exactly the sort of cemetery I love to photograph - ancient wrought iron fences and lichen-covered tombstones oozing with local history - but since we were there at midday the light was all wrong. I would give anything to go back there on a foggy winter morning.
Tilton, NH
November 27th, 2006I had a lovely time back home in NH. It was a real treat to see my family back east. This week I’ll share a few of my favorites from the trip. Meanwhile, I’m going to have to set aside my still-new (to me) OM2 for a spell. Why? Because an old friend of mine from my wrangling days at the dude ranch has decided that her Leica R4 isn’t getting enough use, and she has kindly loaned it to me so I can play around with it for a while. It arrived in the mail today and she sent it with FIVE lenses! I feel like I won the lottery:) Thanks Julie! So I’ll be rockin’ the Leica for a while, and we’ll see what comes of it.

November 19th, 2006I’ll be in NH visiting family next week for Thanksgiving. I’ve uploaded some photos which will post every day or two, so you’ll have something to look at while I’m away. I’m taking 4 cameras with me, so hopefully I’ll get some decent shots out of at least one of them:) All you Americans out there, enjoy the holiday!

November 10th, 2006Here’s the first in a series of photos I shot at an abandoned repair shop/gas station on Hwy 40 in Boonville. I would have posted much sooner, but we were without power for about 18 hours yesterday. Somebody drove into the telephone pole across the street and snapped the wires right off the side of our house. The good news is that he has insurance. Life’s been crazier than usual lately. We’re going to make an offer on a house tonight! This is exciting, and also a little scary. If all goes well, then we’re going to have to scramble to get our house sold, and we’ve still got lots of work to do to it. But it will be well worth the effort. More details later.

November 2nd, 2006Library porn
November 1st, 2006I promised you some library porn and here it is. Ellis Library has this ancient wing that’s like an alternate dimension. I had been there before a couple of years ago and I’ve been wanting to go back and photograph it. It took me some time to find this wing again. All I could remember about it were these long rows of caged study cubicles. Very odd. I shot several adorned with colorful curtains and I’ll be posting more of those in a series. I’ll keep the updates coming daily.
