It’s a bird, it’s a plane
April 28th, 2006Well, I didn’t take nearly as many photos in KC as I had hoped to, mostly because we were too busy packing in the fun. Plus, we visited the most interesting places after dark, and neither of my cameras have a working flash, so I had limited opportunities. The other strike against me was that I did more driving than walking. Kansas City is not very pedestrian friendly place, I’m afraid, and I’m a dedicated pedestrian. Walking makes for better photo hunts. Anyway, the bottom line is that I still have to finish a roll of film in both cameras before I can get them developed, which is why I’m posting old polaroid shots. The Holga only has one left on the roll, so surely I can finish that off this weekend. The Olympus still has about 12 shots left, so I’ll do what I can. But I find that I’m much more particular about when to click the shutter when I’m shooting film. Throw-away shots don’t come cheap anymore.

April 22nd, 2006I’m leaving for Kansas City tomorrow, so I’m going to try and pre-load some dated posts to keep things active while I’m gone. I plan on shooting a lot while I’m there. I had ordered a whole bunch of film for the trip, but now it looks like it’s not going to get here in time. But I’ll manage. And when the film does arrive, it certainly won’t go to waste. I’ll be away on business, at a conference, but my husband gets to tag along. It’s our first getaway since our honeymoon! Weeeeee!

April 21st, 2006Can we come in?
April 18th, 2006An old municipal building located off the MKT trail in Columbia. I’ve been wanting to get in here for a while. I photographed it previously when my Holga was still new, as seen here. This time I found a new opening, so I climbed in and snapped some photos. It was tricky because the light was poor and I didn’t have a flash. Despite their pleas, I didn’t let the kids follow me in.

April 12th, 2006I’ve really been loving the Holga lately, as I become more comfortable with its quirks. But framing shots is still a major challenge, because I haven’t quite learned how to compensate properly for the parallax effect. I had intended to frame this one tight around the car. What I love the most about this camera, though, is the square frame. I’m seeing squares everywhere:) I’m sold on medium format. Must have more cameras. . .
